J. Mark Wiedmann, AIA
Principal
Career Profile:
Mr. Wiedmann is the Principal in charge of design, programming, and project
team assembly. His primary responsibility is for the leadership and
management of the design and quality of detail for the firm's major
projects. With 20 years of experience, Mr. Wiedmann is an expert in all
aspects of residential design including the design of mid- and high-rise
multi-family residential. He has also been responsible for the development
and management of governmental facilities and development for the United
States Postal Service, Assisted Living Residential, Commercial,
Retail, Office and other multidisciplinary/mixed use projects.
Mr. Wiedmann has won numerous awards and honors for his work including Best
in American Living Awards and an award for the design of the "Francisville Housing Competition: Innovations in
Affordable Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization." Mr. Wiedmann
has also served as Chairman of AIA Philadelphia's Housing Committee and is
a plan reviewer for Professional Builder Magazine. He has lectured on urban
in-fill initiatives, and has been an NAHB Convention speaker on the Design
Committee.

Selected Project Experience:
Delaware State Housing Authority
Principal in charge and project designer/director for several DSHA Community
facilities additions and modernizations. This work included new computer
labs, administration offices and community room renovation for Liberty
Court as well as a new administration offices and maintenance facility at
McLean Gardens.
Philadelphia Housing Authority
Principal In Charge of term contract with PHA for various needs assessment
studies and residential modernization and ADA compliance programs. Gilman
Development Corporation: Design and programming of affordable multi-family
housing prototypes in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania including
coordination with the various state housing authorities.
GimSan Plaza, Philadelphia, PA
Mixed use development in Chinatown area, at previous office.
Responsibilities included the design, program and details of this project.
Worked closely with the Chinatown CDC on this project.
United States Postal Service
Principal in charge of Term Contract with the USPS. Projects included
renovations to existing facilities, tenant fit-out for new retail stations
and new construction regional post offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and
Delaware. Services provided USPS design and construction standards
implementation for full architectural and engineering services from
pre-design through full Contract Administration including need assessment
and site acquisition assistance. Selected projects include Roxborough Retail Station, Fairmount Retail Station,
Old City Retail Station, Bustleton Main Station, Roxborough Distribution Station, Apollo Station,
Springfield/Media Station and Middletown Main Station.
Dairy Express
Development of prototypical Drive-Thru convenience store. The building
design emphasized the ‘Image’ as an easily recognizable roadside trademark
with the ability to fit within existing Neighborhood commercial corridors.
Age Restricted Senior Housing Developments
Design of Luxury and Market-Rate Multifamily Town home and apartment
communities for large and small private developers. Many developments were
taken through site yield studies and Zoning variances. Projects range in
size from 28 to 250 unit developments. Special attention was paid to the
exterior and theme of these communities for market appeal as well as
‘Neighborhood’ enhancement opportunities to the local community.
2813 Medical offices, Philadelphia PA
9,000 sf renovation and addition to an existing
retail tire store. Program was developed to accommodate ‘office Pods’ for
flexibility of operations.
Design and Programming: For large national and local merchant builders
Mr. Wiedmann was also involved in the design and development of congregate
care and independent living facilities for the Radice
Care Organizations, Horizon Clubs, Advantage Health Group, Gables
communities and the Marriott congregate facility prototypes.
Saint Edmunds Rectory, Rehoboth Beach, DE
Programming, design and construction
administration for this addition project.
New Garden Township Building, New Garden, PA
Programming and design of a township building including assembly room,
police room with an office and storage facility, other offices, conference
room and lobby with secretary’s space.
PCS Technologies Office and Warehouse, Newtown Square, PA
Design of multi-occupancy building including loading dock access.
James Development Golden Pond Communities, Winter Garden, FL
Project designer of program for 20-unit and 10-unit assisted living
facilities prototypes.
Clara Barton School, Edison, NJ
Project Director for planning and design of a renovation to convert the
facility into a Congregate Care facility.
Hershey Mill Age Restricted Golf Course Community
Design and development of new high-end multi-family product as well as
renovations to existing clubhouse facilities.
